Our First Librarian
On a Friday in January 1928, Miss Vera Mathie became the first librarian. The library was established in a small room in the Community Building – where the YMCA is currently located – with 1,000 books. After 15 months, the library outgrew the space and moved to a house just south of the Community Building where it remained for 25 years (Basner 183).
