The First Community Building was completed in 1923. There were three notable leaders in the early years. Old Charlie Williams was not only Executive Director but also “poet, entertainer, after-dinner speaker, disciplinarian, jokester [and] friend.” Miss Iona Geckler – Geck – was the office manager and substitute gym teacher for 41 years. And Miss Francis Seederly – Seeds – was the Women’s and Girl’s Director who took children, including Mrs. Ruth Basner, camping (Basner 176-77).
